Acceptable use

This Acceptable Use Policy outlines the terms under which customers may use Rackmill's hosting services. By using our services, you agree to comply with this policy in addition to our Terms and Conditions.

1. Prohibited uses

When using our services, you agree not to:

  • Conduct or participate in denial-of-service attacks

2. Resource usage limitations

Our hosting services come with specific resource allocations based on your chosen plan. You agree to:

  • Use server resources (CPU, RAM, storage, network bandwidth) within the limits of your plan
  • Not engage in activities that unreasonably strain shared hosting infrastructure
  • Not run resource-intensive background processes that affect other users
  • Properly optimize databases and applications to ensure efficient resource usage
  • Upgrade to a higher-tier plan if your legitimate usage consistently exceeds your current plan's resources

Rackmill reserves the right to temporarily limit resources, suspend services, or require plan upgrades for accounts exceeding reasonable usage limits.

Bandwidth and traffic

By default, Rackmill does not impose limits on bandwidth or traffic.

However: Rackmill reserves the right to apply limits on certain activities. We want to keep it fair for all users. You are not allowed certain activities that use an unfair share of bandwidth or traffic.

You are not allowed to use Rackmill VPS as a VPN or proxy for accessing streaming services. If you require a VPN for streaming, please use a dedicated commercial VPN provider. See this comparison of commercial VPN services for alternatives.

You're not allowed to use Rackmill services for piracy or illegal file sharing. If you plan to use torrenting or file sharing applications, please ensure that all content shared complies with copyright laws and Rackmill's Acceptable Use Policy. We may impose bandwidth limits or require plan upgrades for accounts engaging in high-volume file sharing activities.

If your usage involves high bandwidth activities such as video streaming, large file downloads, or hosting high-traffic websites, please contact us to discuss your requirements.

3. Content restrictions

You agree not to use our services to store, distribute, or transmit:

  • Content that violates any applicable law or regulation
  • Material that infringes on the privacy or publicity rights of others
  • Content that promotes discrimination, harassment, or violence
  • Defamatory, obscene, or otherwise objectionable content
  • Material that may be harmful to minors
  • Content that violates the intellectual property rights of others

Rackmill reserves the right to remove any content that violates this policy without prior notice.

4. Security requirements

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and hosted content. This includes:

  • Not sharing access credentials with unauthorized individuals

Failing to maintain adequate security may result in service suspension until security issues are resolved.

You must use our services in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to:

  • Anti-spam legislation
  • Industry-specific regulations relevant to your business

You are solely responsible for ensuring your use of our services complies with all legal requirements in the jurisdictions where you operate.
